05. 8.09 Cook the Books

Earlier this week we got a belated wedding present from Pop Culture Librarian: The Grit Restaurant Vegetarian Cookbook.

I decided to start with a simple, classic recipe: Spinach and feta lasagna.

I'd never made lasagna before (gasp!) and the Metallurgist came home from work only to witness me running around the kitchen, burning my hands on the lasagna noodles.

And then she was nice enough to pour me a drink.

In the end things turned out surprisingly well.

And amazingly enough (for how tasty it was), along with the spinach, feta and mozzarella there was also tofu in the recipe (again: gasp!).

Too bad I can't thank Pop Culture Librarian by bringing her a piece, since she lives in Seattle and we live in Chicago. Maybe I could Fed Ex it?

Awesome! That looks tasty.

I actually knew very little about that cookbook, but I know that the Metallurgist (and you too) likes to cook so I asked some librarian friends what cookbook would be good and many of them raved about this one.

I'm glad the first recipe panned out. (Get it? Panned out?)

Well played Josh!

Also, I'm a little jealous that you got a wedding gift from Pop Culture Librarian. I think she's awesomely funny!

Did the Metallurgist convert you to a spinach eater? Yeah Drea!
